General Information: 

1.We have 12 full-time employees and many volunteers and partners who work with us in different forms. For organisational structure, see attachment. 2.Budgetary resources available for 2007: 600 000 EUR 3.Sources of funding:individual donors, Slovak government, EU founds, slovak and foreign foundations, foreign embassies in Slovakia (for detailed info, see web site: annual report) 4.We realize concrete projects, study visits, film festival and educational campigns at slovak schools 5.Local partners in other countries

Mission and Objectives: 

Our mission is to mobilise the broadest possible public support so as to provide effective aid to those who suffer the consequences of natural disasters, conflicts and authoritarian regimes. We inform the Slovak public about the challenges facing society, and we propose to our citizens various ways they can help people in need. Thanks to public support and with the support of a number of donor agencies, we have been able to help thousands of people in 15 countries. Our work ranges from humanitarian and development aid to support for human rights and public information activities in Slovakia.

Main Projects / Activities: 

1. Humanitarian aid - responding to a range of conflicts, natural disasters (Kosovo, Chechenya, Iraq, Pakistan,Indonesia, Iran, Moldova, Kenya)- intervention through a field mission or local partners. 2. Development aid- systematic development cooperation focused on the range of issues, namely: gender, support for civic society- training and exchange for local NGOs staff,construction of schools, teacher training, literacy programmes, microcredit, promotion of small enterprises, health education and prevention 3. Promotion of human rights - We have been particularly active in Cuba,Chechnya, Burma, North Korea, Iran, Moldavia, the Middle East and other regions. We facilitate a large number of documentary film viewings, and public discussions with dissidents, activists and journalists who are focused on undemocratic regimes. 4. Awareness raising and education - Basic goal is to show the Slovak public a true picture of the global challenges facing the world today (ex.:annual OneWorld documentary film festival in Bratislava and regional towns)
