The Anna Lindh Foundation, the international organisation that leads the largest civil society and youth-led network of its kind working for Mediterranean dialogue and conflict prevention, has welcomed its new Executive Director, Dr Nabil Al-Sharif.

As former Senator, Ambassador and Minister for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Dr Al-Sharif has extensive experience in international cooperation and was previously Jordan’s ambasssador to Morocco, Mauritania and Senegal. He has also worked across the domain of media and communication, from his role as Minister of Media Affairs to that of Editor-in-Chief of the Arabic daily newspaper “Ad-Dustour” and Chair of the Jordanian Media Institute (JMI).

Working from the Foundation Headquarters in Alexandria, Al Sharif joins the global leadership team of the Foundation at a strategic moment in its history as it marks 15 years since its creation along with the expansion of its programming, global partnerships and centres of excellence with its civil society Networks.

Executive Director Al-Sharif said, “During its 15-year life the Foundation has weathered many challenges across our region and consolidated its role as the central reference point for intercultural dialogue in the Mediterranean. I am excited to build on this pioneering practice as we take the Foundation to the next level, with our ever-expanding tool-kit and new domains of action. Communication will be central, today more than ever, as we craft alternative narratives for the future of our region and unify the Foundation, its people and networks, around our common belief in common action and the power of dialogue”.
